Swallows & Daggers
Swallows
& Daggers began as a way of documenting classic American tattooing
for anyone who shared our fascination. That fascination remains but
delving deeper into the culture has led us to value the influences that
have shaped it; making us what we are today.
Started
in 2009 by Cian Mac an TSaoir, Swallows & Daggers soon grew to be
much more than a record of the past. We garnered a global
audience through vast and varied daily content the S&D website
became a reference point for artists, brands and tattoo aficionados
alike. In the process we broke down tattoo culture for anyone who had
respect for the craft but not access to the knowledge. Soon, a physical
zine evolved out of the website followed by a series of collaborative
t-shirts with artists like Simon Erl and Matty D’Arienzo.
Today,
Swallows & Daggers has evolved into something much greater than our
humble beginnings in rural Ireland. The same influences that have
always informed and led our work remain but we have also begun exploring
new paths; hard wearing cut-and-sew garments; original in-depth content
and a truly global outlook. In every sense we plan to take what has
gone before us and build on it. Respect Tradition.
